Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Department: Accounting
Supervisor's Title: Controller 
Status: Hourly

Purpose of position: To ensure the accurate recording and processing of company payroll and prepare and provide timely and accurate payroll information to clients and agencies requiring it. Additionally, to research and resolve payroll discrepancies and client issues.

Essential duties/responsibilities:
-Maintains payroll information by collecting, calculating, and accurately entering data.
-Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.
-Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports.
-Prints, copies, and mails/emails/enters into LCP Tracker, weekly Certified Payroll reports.
-Completes enrollments of Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) in a timely manner
-Prepares and submits monthly reports for OCIP, 1405, and Faster programs.
-Prepares and submits yearly reporting of FHWA EEO information.
-Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
-Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
-Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests in a timely, courteous and professional manner.
-Maintains payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
-Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
-Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
-Updates payroll records as needed.
-Other duties as assigned.

-Proficiency in Spectrum Construction Software a plus

Training/Education:
-High School Diploma/GED.
-Strong knowledge of the Davis-Bacon and Prevailing Wage acts and required reporting
-Knowledge of federal and state regulations
-Strong PC skills including proficiency in Excel
-Working knowledge of payroll best practices

Experience:
-2 to 4 years of experience processing payroll in construction industry
-2 to 4 years of experience with Financial and payroll software                                                                                                                                                    -Experience with Spectrum (Dexter and Chaney) payroll system helpful 

Physical Activities:
Prolonged sitting, typing, stooping, bending, standing, pushing, pulling, and lifting up to 25 pounds
